Really special point blanket coat by none other than the Hudsons Bay Company. this one is likely from the 1930s but I was able to find one ad from 1922 where the women’s version has the hand warmer pockets though you can’t tell if the men’s version does. I then found a lot of versions of this coat from the early 1930s without the hand warmer pockets and then advertisements for this exact coat with the hand warmer pockets in 1937-1938. So I’m not leaning towards this piece being 1930s though I believe this model existed in the 1920s as well. FoxVintageMercantile

(Above) Original 1940s French ‘Canadienne’ / Barnstormer Mackinaw Jacket This style of jacket was popular in France during the mid-Century period and are a classic item today. This double breasted designed with sheepskin collar is often referred to as ‘Barnstormer’ which was a style of jacket which became popular during the inter-war period with the rise of aviation and motor. pursuits. The design was also popular in France with cotton canvas coats such as this being widely produced. This material was chosen for its hard wearing and waterproof qualities which make it very suitable as an outdoor jacket. The double breasted front fastens with leather ‘football’ style buttons and the original waist belt is even still present and fastens with a metal wire buckle. Leather edged slash pockets are located to the front below which are flapped pockets. There is a yoke detail which passes over the shoulders and features a leather trim which is a nice detail. The interior of the jacket features a sheepskin lining to the upper section and a quilted section to the skirt. There are no interior pockets.

(Above) An exceptional wool winter jacket from the vintage junkies at Fleurs de Bagne! The jacket is made from traditional Burel – an wool fabric which has been valued since at least the early middle ages for its warmth, toughness and resistance to water. The classic Canadienne jacket was originally made in French Canada in the early 1900s as a robust and warm jacket for the sometimes harsh inland winters. It became popular in France in the 1940s and 1950s, not least from being worn by Jean Gabin and Jean-Paul Belmondi in the movie ”Un singe en hiver”.
